The new google sites was released at the end of 2016. While it doesn't yet have all of the features that the old sites has, it is a sleeker version and far easier to use. New additional features will continue to be added all the time. Students pick this up in no time. Old google sites will eventually disappear, however you will be able to transfer old sites to the new sites in time.
Like any website, it can be used by teachers in a number of different ways. You can create a site for a year level subject that contains lots of resources, for a lesson outline or simply just for one set of assignment instructions. It can be used by students as a medium to communicate ideas about any topic, it can also be used as an assignment even for NCEA internal assessments. Google sites are a great way to display/develop a portfolio for a unit of work. It can bring together different mediums such as photographs, videos, documents, slides and text. And can even embed interactive tools such as Thinglink images. |
