PD SNACK: Google Meet Refresher
Kia ora everyone
Here are a few things to remember about using Google Meet and contacting students. There’s also a couple of digital tools that you might want to try but these are completely optional.
Google Meet
Please open the attachment to see detailed instructions on how to set up Google Meet.
There are two ways to create a Google Meet with your students and with teachers. (NB: Google Meet is working on being able to play a Youtube video whilst screen casting, but this is currently not worth trying.)
1. Google Classroom link: can be activated from the banner - click on “generate Meet link” (top left-hand side).
• This is perfect if you don’t want to record the Meet.
• Recording can go to students, recording goes to the first person who entered the Meet.
• You can’t invite other people to the Meet unless they have joined the classroom by you.
2. Google Calendar: this has the best benefits
• You will receive the recording because you organised the Meet
• You can invite students/teachers and parents
• You receive an Alert and you know who will attend prior to the Meet.
• You can schedule a Google Meet weekly, fortnightly etc…. With the same link and title.
